Appointments Available at Pharmacy for the Public Good, Phoenicia
Mary Ellen Galland Holtzman has joined the Wellness Rx Tannersville staff as a Mental Health and Recovery Coach, where she has over 50 years of experience. She also serves the Pharmacy for the Public Good Pharmacy in Phoenicia.
After working with Wellness Rx as a volunteer during the COVID-19 pandemic, she joins our team as an in-house community wellness practitioner to bolster Ed’s commitment to the mental wellbeing and emotional support of our patients here on the mountain top and in our surrounding communities. Mary Ellen will also help with the flow of our pharmacy and gift store as she has decades of experience in retail operations.
Born and raised in Williamstown, Massachusetts, Mary Ellen studied Psychology, Sociology and Education at the College of New Rochelle in New York and holds a Masters Degree in Community School Psychology.
Her fascination with cultural and behavioral differences led to her twenty-five (25) year career as Counselor, Teacher, Supervisor and Director of Community Services at the Catholic Charities Agency in New York City and Rockland County at The New York Foundling Hospital. She has worked in psychiatric hospitals, detention facilities, and worked the streets to create programs to empower young people and heal adults by developing innovative life treatment plans with them.
“Mary Ellen brings a myriad of life experience to Wellness Rx, both in private business and public service,” said Ed Ullmann, Chief Pharmacist and CEO. He continued, “her solid background in mental health and recovery services is a wonderful addition to our Wellness Rx family, especially as we work through the challenges of the COVID-19 era. Mary Ellen’s unique gift is her service to others and to help them with today’s public health challenges.”
“As I plant myself at Wellness Rx, I do so with intention, to follow the mission of the new Pharmacy for the Public Good,” said Holtzman. “I look forward to coaching and advocating for person centered wellness, sharing tools to heal our patients one step at time. I am committed and aligned with the same values Ed's places on respect, kindness, positivity, hope and connectedness which grows us all,” she concluded.
Mary Ellen has raised two daughters.
